Moving Your Restaurant Off GloriaFood: How Spatula Handles the Migration For You

You did not start a restaurant to spend a weekend rebuilding an online menu. With GloriaFood shutting down, here is how Spatula moves your entire ordering setup over for you - menu, payments, custom domain, and Google links - usually within 48 hours.

If you run a pizza shop, a fish and chip shop, a cafe, or any independent restaurant that has been using GloriaFood for online ordering, the shutdown announcement probably landed somewhere between "annoying" and "panic-inducing." You did not sign up for a software project. You signed up to feed people. The last thing you want to do at the end of a 14-hour day is rebuild your menu in a new system from scratch.

This is exactly what Spatula's migration team handles for you, at no extra cost. You send us your GloriaFood menu - even a screenshot or a printed PDF - and we get your new ordering system live, usually within 48 hours. This article walks through exactly what that process looks like, what we need from you, and what you should expect on each day of the migration.

Most independent menus take a couple of days from submission to a live ordering page on Spatula - depending on menu complexity and how quickly you review the preview.

Why Restaurants Get Stuck Migrating Themselves

When restaurant owners try to migrate themselves, the same pattern tends to show up. They lose a few weekends to it and either give up or end up with a half-finished menu where the prices are right on the small pizzas but wrong on the family sizes, half the modifiers do not work, and the delivery zones are completely guessed.

It is not because restaurant owners are not capable. It is because online ordering systems involve hundreds of small details, and you only learn which ones matter the third time a customer complains. Modifier groups, half-and-half pizza pricing, school-holiday hours, surcharges on public holidays, GST on delivery fees - every one of these is a footgun if you set it up wrong.

  • Menus with 80+ items, modifier groups, and combo deals - easy to skip a topping or mis-price a size variant
  • Half-and-half pizza pricing - every system handles this differently and most restaurants get it wrong on the first attempt
  • Surcharges on weekends and public holidays - must be configured per-day with the right tax treatment
  • Delivery zones with different minimums and fees per suburb - easy to miss one and lose orders
  • GST handling on delivery fees, packaging fees, and surcharges - incorrect setup creates ATO issues later
  • Stripe payouts to the right bank account - get this wrong and your money goes nowhere
Send us your existing GloriaFood menu - even as a PDF, a photo, or a Word document - and we will rebuild it in Spatula for you. Most restaurants are live within a few days and have done less than 30 minutes of total work.

What Spatula Migrates For You

Our onboarding team treats your migration like a project. We have a checklist, a single point of contact, and a timeline. Here is what we handle on your behalf.

Your Full Menu

We rebuild every category, every item, every modifier group, every combo, every special instruction. If you sell pizzas with custom toppings, half-and-half splits, or family deals, we configure all of that to behave the way your customers expect. If you have a printed menu, send us a photo. If you have a PDF, even better. If you can export from GloriaFood, that is the gold standard - but we do not require it.

Customer Data (Where Possible)

GloriaFood's data export is limited, but whatever you can pull out - customer emails, order history, addresses - we will import. This means returning customers see their saved addresses on day one and can reorder their favourites without hunting through your menu.

Custom Domain Setup

Your ordering page lives on your own domain - for example, order.yourrestaurant.com.au. We handle the DNS configuration, SSL certificate, and verification. You email your domain provider login details (or we walk you through adding a single record), and within a few hours the domain is live and pointing at your branded ordering page.

Stripe Payment Connection

We help you connect or create your Stripe account so payments go directly to your bank. There is no Spatula middleman holding your funds for two weeks like some platforms do. The customer pays, Stripe processes, money lands in your account on the next business day. We test the full payment flow before going live, including refunds, so you know it works.

Google Business Profile and Social Links

This is the step most restaurants forget when they migrate themselves. Your "Order Online" link in Google, your Instagram bio link, your Facebook button - all of these need to be updated, or customers will keep landing on a dead GloriaFood page. We give you a checklist with exactly which links to update, and we will jump on a screenshare to walk through it with you if you want.

Receipt Printer Configuration

If you use a thermal printer in your kitchen, we configure Spatula to print orders automatically. Spatula supports any ESC/POS thermal printer (Epson, Star, Zonerich, Sunmi, and most generic models). We test the print flow with you before launch - kitchen ticket, customer receipt, order confirmation - so you do not get any surprises during your first dinner rush on the new system.

A Realistic Migration Timeline - Day By Day

Here is what a Spatula migration looks like for an independent pizza shop or fish and chip shop. Yours will follow roughly the same pattern.

DayWhat HappensWhat You Do
Day 0You sign up at spatula.is. Your account is created. Onboarding contact reaches out during Australian business hours.Send us your GloriaFood menu (export, PDF, or photo) and your business details (ABN, bank, hours).
Day 1We build your menu in Spatula - categories, items, modifiers, combos, half-and-half pricing.Reply to a short questionnaire: delivery zones, surcharges, opening hours, payment preferences.
Day 1 (afternoon)We send you a preview link. You review the menu, prices, and item descriptions.Spend 15-30 minutes checking the menu. Tell us anything that is wrong.
Day 2We make the corrections, configure your custom domain, and connect your Stripe account.Verify your Stripe account (15 min) and confirm DNS records.
Day 2 (afternoon)We test the full ordering flow - place a test order, run a test payment, refund it, print a test receipt.Place one test order yourself to confirm it feels right on your phone.
Day 3You go live. We update your Google Business Profile and walk through your Instagram and Facebook links.Stop using GloriaFood. Tell your regulars about the new ordering page.
Some restaurants are live within 24 hours. Others take 5-7 days because their menu is complex or because they want to wait until a quieter day to switch over. We move at your pace - not ours.

Frequently Asked Migration Questions

"Can I keep using GloriaFood while I test Spatula?"

Yes. We strongly recommend running both systems in parallel for at least 7 days. Your existing GloriaFood widget keeps working, and your new Spatula ordering page is live on a different URL. You test, you tell your closest regulars, you place a few real orders. Once you are confident, you swap the link on your website and Google. There is no forced cut-over.

"What if my menu changes after migration?"

You manage your menu yourself from then on through the Spatula dashboard. Adding items, changing prices, marking items out of stock - all of it is real-time, takes a few clicks, and updates instantly across your ordering page. If you ever want our help with a major menu refresh, just ask - we do those for free too.

"What does it cost?"

Spatula Pro is a flat $149/month subscription per store, with no per-order commission. Standard Stripe payment processing fees apply (1.75% + 30c for Australian cards) and they go directly to Stripe - Spatula does not take a cut. There are no setup fees, no migration fees, and no contract. If you decide it is not for you, you cancel.

"Will my customers have to create new accounts?"

New customers will, but it takes 30 seconds - name, email, phone, and they are checking out. Returning GloriaFood customers will create a fresh account on first visit, but their saved addresses and order history can often be pre-loaded from your imported customer list, so it feels familiar rather than cold.

"What happens to my old GloriaFood orders?"

You should export your order history from GloriaFood as soon as possible - we can store a copy for you for record-keeping if you want. Going forward, all new orders flow through Spatula and live in your new dashboard. Once GloriaFood goes dark on April 30, 2027, anything not exported is gone for good.

Why We Do The Migration For You

A lot of software companies treat onboarding as the customer's problem. They write a help article, send you a welcome email, and hope you figure it out. We do the opposite, for two reasons.

First, restaurants do not have time. The owners we work with are running services, training staff, fixing fryers, and arguing with delivery drivers. Asking them to spend a weekend setting up modifier groups is a great way to lose them to a competitor that handles it for them. We would rather invest a few hours of our team's time so you stay focused on what you actually do.

Second, doing the migration ourselves means we know it is done correctly. Wrong tax setup, missing modifiers, broken half-and-half pricing - these are the issues that create support tickets later. By building the menu ourselves with you reviewing it, we cut the support load by 80% and you get a system that just works from day one.

In practice, the hardest part of most migrations is something mundane like finding the Stripe login or tracking down the DNS provider - not the menu rebuild itself, which we handle.

How To Start Your Migration

There are two ways to begin. Pick whichever feels easier.

  1. Sign up at spatula.is and our onboarding team will reach out during Australian business hours. You can also do this on a Sunday - we just may not respond until Monday morning.
  2. Email contact@spatula.is with the subject "GloriaFood migration" and attach your current menu (any format). We will reply with a short questionnaire and start building immediately.

There is no obligation, no demo call you have to sit through, and no salesperson chasing you. We build the menu, you review it, and if you do not like it, you walk away. We are confident enough in the product that we are happy to do the work upfront.

Worried about getting locked in? Spatula has no contracts and no exit fees. Your menu data, customer list, and order history are exportable from your dashboard at any time. If something better comes along, you take your data with you - that is the whole point.

GloriaFood gave restaurants a free, simple ordering widget for years. It served its purpose and now it is going away. The replacement does not have to be painful - and it definitely does not have to take more than a couple of days. Send us your menu and let us handle the rest.
